WHAT: 6th Street Playhouse 5th Anniversary Celebration The 6th Street Playhouse celebrates its 5th Anniversary Thursday, Feb. 18, 2010 with a dance party celebration with Rock-a-Billy, Country and Swing music performed by the Shannon Rider Band, which includes several band members from the critically acclaimed 6th Street Playhouse production of “Hank Williams: Lost Highway.” The event begins at 7 p.m. in the Studio Theatre and cost $25 per person.

Everyone is invited to the Dixieland Concert & Dance featuring the Gold Coast Jazz Band sponsored by “Trad Jass”, the Traditional Ragtime & Dixieland Jazz Appreciation & Strutters Society, who perform the first Sunday of every month at The Last Day Saloon.
Every month features a different professional band plus informal jam sessions for drop-in musicians. The large dance floor and live music invite dancers from all over to enjoy the Foxtrot, Swing,Lindy Hop,Jitterbug, Balboa, Charleston and other period steps.
Admission: $10 General Public
- Proceeds from the event provide scholarships to young muscians to attend the annual summer jazz music camp.
Trad Jass is a Railroad Square favorite and performs for all the Historic Railroad Square events.

Description: U.S. economist & social philosopher Thorstein Veblen’s book “Theory of the Leisure Class” and it’s controversial economic theories is the basis for “The Price of Everything,” a musical vaudeville romp featuring a large ensemble cast and musical numbers including “Greed is Good,” “We’re Broke,” “Things Can Change” and “The Price of Everything.”
This melodrama-within-a-musical demonstrates Veblen’s controversial thesis when he seeks to have theories sung and played out in a musical romp with unsuspecting actors who need a job. Featuring book and lyrics by Charles Leipart and music by Richard B. Evans, the composer of the musical version of “Enchanted April” and the librettist of “Lady on a Carousel,” an original musical about Marilyn Monroe.

Hollywood screen actor and former member of the Blue Man Group, Tahmus Rounds, stars in this critically acclaimed play featuring more than 20 Hank Williams’ hits including “I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry,” “Hey, Good Lookin’ ” and “Move It on Over.”
