WHAT: Solofest of the West This new annual series presented in the 6th Street Playhouse Studio Theatre starts off with a bang, showcasing stories from the most popular solo playwrights and performers in the Bay Area. – “Wretch Like Me” – A totally righteous one-sinner-show. The outrageous, true story of a former teenage fundamentalist and how he was saved from being “saved” was the 2010 Stage One Theater Arts Award winner For Best Origin

Infused with entertaining cultural and social references from 1960s & ’70s, David Templeton’s autobiographical episodic adventure about being teenager searching for the meaning of life as a born-again Christian is charming, haunting, thought provoking and hilariously funny. Sunday matinee performances include post-show discussion with writer-performer David Templeton. – “Chicken” – Matthew Kerns stars is this solo piece about one man’s story of life, liberty and the pursuit of healthiness in the shadow of HIV. Can peanut butter, show tunes,and a chain-smoking mother be the answer? Named “Critiques Choice,” by The Chicago Reader and proclaimed “A Must See!” by National Public Radio. – “The Weight Game” – Sarah Abbey dares to tip the scales with this war on weight issues. Featuring the battle of the bulge, the Scarsdale Diet Revolution and the Victory at Clothing Closet. The secret weapon in this engagement is an eating disorder. Body beautiful or barfing beauty, who will be the victor? Goldstar Reviews weighed in with “I spent the best part of an hour laughing at myself for the things I could relate to, as did my companion and most others.” Solofest of the West is rated PG-13 for adult language and themes.

Leapin’ lizards! The 6th Street Playhouse pulls Little Orphan Annie straight from the newspaper comics with all the favorite characters and a set design that brings the comic strip to life with its presentation of the beloved Broadway musical “Annie.”

One of Broadway’s beloved musicals, “Annie” is based on the 1930’s comic strip, featuring the spunky depression-era orphan, “Little Orphan Annie.”

Follow Annie’s adventures when she runs away from the orphanage and sets out to find her parents who abandoned her years ago on a doorstep in New York City. Along the way Annie adopts a lovable mutt named Sandy and eventually finds a happy family life at the home of billionaire Oliver Warbucks. “Annie” won the Tony Award for Best Musical with its memorable songs “Tomorrow” and “It’s the Hard-Knock Life.”
